Dana, got into the car and apologized to he friends for being late.

“Training, you all know how it goes.” She explained.

“Yes, Dana we know. That’s why we all time manage,” Shane had her shades on up front with Bette.

“All in and buckled. Let’s go see the show ladies, a wedding to behold.” Bette had enlisted her two friends for this mission. A colleagues wedding she had to attend. Lucky for her she’d been told to bring a friend or two. Her college knew Bette wouldn’t come alone, especially to such a heterosexual gig like a wedding.

“Are we the lesbian reps for today then?” Dana asked, fishing in her bag for her shades. It was a sunny morning and though it was only 10h30 it was blazing.

“You should be used to it by now.” Shane replied. “Anyway, I haven’t been to a real wedding and where I was a guest at that. I’m usually working.”

“Yeah, working the women and working your way to the bride.” Dana couldn’t get over how her friends were just women magnates, especially straight women. Bette more subtle, but just as bad. “Bette, whatever happens, please don’t leave me stranded alone.”

“Don’t worry D; I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen. Anyway I’m off women and staying that way for at least a year.” Bette told her friend, she didn’t take her eyes off the road, or falter as she spoke.

Suddenly the car was filled with laughter. Dana had her head thrown back and couldn’t stop laughing.

“What’s so funny? I’m no Shane, I mean what I say. Anyway, with a new job on the cards, I don’t have the time.” Bette trailed off deep in thought about the directions. She’d reread them this morning to double check. She was pretty good with given directions, but today was harder for some strange reason.

The three had been friends for few years and lived in the same neighbourhood. Better and Shane had met while Bette was working as a Curator in a gallery. Shane, some years younger then had come in to set up with a design crew Bette had hired for their Seasonal Theme. When the crew had moved on, Shane had become attached to Bette in a younger sister fashion. Some people even thought they were related. The tall, graceful and sexy curator, with the lanky, broody and androgynous creative artist. With Shane and her up and down life, Bette really did become her sister, first sheltering the young woman when she’d been out of work. Dana had arrived a year or so later. She was so drawn to the two having seen then on her morning runs past the Planet. She’d offered them tickets to a benefit game she was playing at, and the rest as they say is history.

“Here we are!” Bette announced as they pulled into a driveway that led to somewhere.

“Here we are indeed if we are looking to get lost….” Shane hadn’t finished her sentence when a mansion that could easily have been Grand Central appeared. “Wow, this is something.”

“It’s a wedding to be at indeed.” Dana agreed. Getting out the car, they looked at the palatial homestead and took it in, in all its glory.

“Thank you Porter, even when I sometimes doubt you, I can never fault you. Many a good time to be had here.” Shane had closed the door and was trying to look into the windows of this palace. In her best suit, she was a sight to behold. However the young women weren’t even aware of that. Black suit, ox blood red tailored shirt, accessories to rival a rock star and hair looking like she’d been wrestling.

Dana was in her Bermuda suit, cream colored with a beautiful turquoise blouse. She always looked stunning and her constant grinning wasn’t going to stop today. She came from money and knew that this wedding was just that. Knowing that not all money was stuck up, she braced herself for a great time with her friends.

Bette was looking around, trying to see if there were directions as to what to do. Her friends blindly behind her, Shane whistling as they saw a lawn full of people and a valet dude in front of them.

“Hi, Bette Porter.” Bette spoke to the valet. On spotting him she’d walked purposefully towards him.

“Key’s please man. I will safely park your car. Here’s your tag and just follow the path to that marquee. The valet had been looking and watching the trio with interest. He’d immediately recognized Dana Fairbanks that famous star. Shane he had thought was a young guy. Bette…..He was speechless. She was absolutely wow. Taller, darker and more confident than her followers that’s for sure. Her linen suit, glided on her like water. She was like a dream. The valet, though a young student was no dummy and could see a hot woman a mile away.
